Keep doing good, no matter how small it is

Keep doing good, no matter how small it is, it can make a difference, it can make someone's day, it can save someone's life, it can bring someone joy. It can also bring good things back to you, in ways that you may not expect. It can make you feel good about yourself. You never know what impact it may have, or what reward it may bring. You may not see it right away, but trust me, it will come. And when it does, you will be glad that you did it.

Good morning, it’s 11.09 WITA - when I start to write my first sentence. Today I want to share with you my personal story about why we have to keep doing good, no matter how small it is.

As some of you may know, I moved to Bali more than a year ago. Bali is a beautiful island with amazing culture, nature, and people. But, I admit that I did not socialize much with my neighbors, even though I knew they were the best. I was busy with my work and my own life, and I did not make much effort to connect with them.

One day, I came back from a trip to my hometown. I brought some small gifts for my neighbors, just as a gesture of goodwill. I did not expect anything in return.

A few days later, my stove broke. I panicked because I did not know how to fix it. I ran to my neighbors and asked for their help. They did not hesitate to help me. They fixed my stove and installed a new gas cylinder.

Another thing that happened was that we found out that the stray dog that we fed every day got pregnant. We found her dying with puppies stuck inside her. She was so weak and in pain. We brought her to the vet and paid for a cesarean and a neutering. It was a lot of money, and at the time we were actually having a problem because the villa that we rented demanded a yearly payment. We needed a lot of money, and we did not have enough. But lucky after negociate we can pay per six months.

Not long after we helped the dog, we got a big order for our product and we were able to pay the villa and still had some money left for groceries. We were so relieved and happy. We felt that it was a blessing from God, or maybe a reward for our kindness. We did not know for sure, but we were thankful.

The next problem was that we had to find a person to adopt the three puppies. We could not keep them, because we did not have enough space or resources. We wanted them to have a good home and a happy life. We posted their pictures online and asked our neighbors if they knew anyone who wanted a puppy. Luckily, all of them were adopted. I still miss them though.

So, keep doing good, no matter how small it is, it can make a difference, it can make someone's day, it can save someone's life, it can bring someone joy. It can also bring good things back to you, in ways that you may not expect. It can make you feel good about yourself. You never know what impact it may have, or what reward it may bring. You may not see it right away, but trust me, it will come. And when it does, you will be glad that you did it.
